How long
How many seasons before one or more grows up into an awkward stage?
shareman, I just have been thinking about the actors on Nickelodeon looking suddenly older so quickly in the past week. first it was the young brother on the thundermans who in season 3 looks about 2 years older than he looked in season 2. and then I noticed how much older the Nora character looks in season 3 compared to in season 2. then I noticed how much older the Bella character on Bella and the Bulldogs looks in this season compared to how old she looked in season 1, which was just like 9 months ago, for crying out loud, what happened to her? she went from looking about 12 in season one to looking about 14 in season two. and then I just noticed how Phoebe looks older in season 3 compared to in season 2 of the thundermans. and I just noticed how much older the kid who plays Kid Danger on Henry Danger looks right now compared to the last time I just saw him on Henry Danger. man, kids grow up so incredibly fast!
shareJasper from Henry Danger is a lot bigger now then he was on the pilot.
shareHenry and Jasper have both grown so much compared to the pilot.
shareUsually there is more time between the end of season one to the beginning of season two of these shows than say seasons 2 to 3. They cast it, do the pilot, if it gets a go ahead they do the orginal set of shows, then wait and see if anyone likes it before starting the second. Hence, if may be a full year delay form filiming to filming.
As an example Liv and Maddie finished its final season in June just after they had shown the season 3 final. Its finale will probably show right around descendants II next summer so it will be a year from filming to showing. Alot of time for a young kid.
Honestly considering how hard both of dan's shows are tanking in ratings right now (plus Victorious losing money and Sam & Cat being a minor flop) I'd be surprised if this got more than 2 seasons. At some point nick is going to cut the cord on him. Although I think if they let him write the shows he's actually good at writing (targeted toward a slightly older audience) he could maybe come up with some sort of flagship that got around 2.0 ratings for them.
shareOf course you have to remember the current day is the great depression for tween television. The era with Icarly, Victorious, Big time Rush at nick and Disney with very popular shows as well is over. There was the crash of say 2012 or 13. Several of Dan's shows flopped. Disney shows are not near as popular. Current show bring in a fraction of the ratings of the old ones. I think the days of tween shows pulling big ratings are over. Now, Disney and Nick needs shows to fill air time because they have networks that need programming. I would agree that Dan's work is best suited to a sligtly older audience, say 8th-10th grade, but they are not watching Nick or Disney anymore. Its not cool.
