At least if she lives in New York City which I always assumed she did.

In the episode where Double G bet Bunny in a gaming competition, Kenzie had a pet "pocket weasel" which is apparently another and little know name for a ferret.

The New York City Health Code, section 161.01 prohibits the keeping of animals in New York City expect for normal pets and ordinary working animals like seeing eye dogs and horses and some other exceptions.

Prohibited wild animals include:

(4) All fur bearing mammals of the family Mustelidae, including, but not limited to, weasel, marten, mink, badger, ermine, skunk, otter, pole cat, zorille, wolverine, stoat and ferret.

Maybe Kenzie calls her pet a "pocket weasel" to avid attracting attention to its illegal status, but since a weasel is also a member of the family Mustelidae and every and all members of that family are forbidden that won't help her much.

About the time the episode was being written there was a push by Ferret owners to legalize them in NYC but the Health Department board voted in March 2015 to keep the ban.

Maybe Game Shakers is in an alternate universe where ferrets are legal in NYC. After all, it is an alternate unvierse with a famous celebrity named Double G, a game company named "Game Shakers" created by two 12 year old schoolgirls, and where a gigantic, 400 ton "Mega Shark" terrorized the eastern coast of the USA from about 1995 to 2015!

Very interesting. And more proof that stuff in Dan Schneider shows isn't a coincidence. They didn't randomly pick any animal. They did their homework. Also, at least they didn't chose skunk, badger or wolverine.

Is OP the same person that said Ravi from Jessie was a criminal for having a pet iguana in NYC? The real crime was keeping that stupid, unfunny iguana around for Bunk'd. It's never added anything to show and has never been funny.

But I digress. I'm thinking the whole thing about Kenzie having a ferret is so they can say pocket weasel and not have the censors after them. Dan can just say that it's an animal and that pocket weasel doesn't mean anything dirty. Which it certainly does. Remember when Hudson said his uncle had a pocket weasel but his aunt didn't like it? A little double entendre going on there.

Kenzie says she found Cujo her pocket weasel in her back yard. But her "pocket weasel" is a ferret from Europe and they are totally domesticated and can't survive on their own. There are no wild ferrets anywhere. The wild back footed ferrets in the west are a totally different species.

So I guess Cujo was a pet ferret that escaped or was released or lost somehow and as found in Kenzie's yard almost immediately. Since nobody in Kenzie's neighborhood claimed Cujo he was probably unwanted. Maybe someone found out it was illegal to keep ferrets and got rid of him.

In the episode "Buck the Magic Rat" Kenzie was heartbroken because the government took her ferret away from her because Ferrets are illegal in NYC.
