this is my only criticism of the show

and it's not really a criticism, per se', but I kind of got tired reading the subtitles.

I like that they tried to keep that as authentic as possible, but the background locations were very distracting. Mass. doesn't have mountains like that, especially on the coast.

I don't see why they couldn't have just filmed it in Plymouth... Lot of vacant land to film on. South Africa stood out like a sore thumb in this.

If a show is going to have subtitles don't have light colored letters with a light back ground. Or make the letters bigger with as much subtitles the mins series had.
I guess Pete Campbell's family did own most of New England after all.

I kinda agree with you guys. I do like the attempt at authenticity having the Native Americans speak their tongue, simply because I love the sound of different languages. My beef echoes doctorfurby's post. Plus, when you are reading the subtitles, you miss the actor's expressions because you eyes are reading. I have watched several foreign language movies on DVD, where you can set the language to English, but for me it takes multiple viewings. One to read the dialogue only, one to visually watch the movie, and last to coordinate both. Which I do not mind at all if it is a movie I really like.

I liked that they let the native people speak in their native language. However, I personally felt that on the long passages that were several lines long there was not enough time to read the text onscreen.

Learn how to read quickly and you won't have any of those problems. I get that it sometimes can get a bit annoying, especially if you don't watch many foreign films and are used to it. To have to watch a film/show 3 times just to really get it sounds crazy lol. Sorry , but that sounds like a huge waste of time , and sounds like it would make the show not as good as intended being that you needed to watch 2 episodes 6 times to take it all in.

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!
