Metal Armour

Forgive my ignorance . . . but the metal helmets and body armor confuse me a bit. I always thought they were used by Spanish conquistadors when they invaded Mexico and South America. Did the English pilgrims also have access to this type of armor? I've just never seen pilgrims dressed this way in any of my studies. Any help would be appreciated!!

That style of helmet is called a morion. It was worn in England as least as far back as the late 1400s. The same shape was worn in Ancient Greece and was made of leather. I don't know if they had it in metal, too.

reply

They did.

They found a few of them at Jamestown while excavating thete.

Cool aspect. More shows about the Pilgrims should show this.
