That has to be CGI puke the boy did

He speaks. Pauses. Pukes. I've never seen that before. Normally we get a cut shot and someone pukes up what they had in their mouth. This never cut away. Either CGI puke or the greatest boy actor the screen has ever seen.

Funny, that's exactly what I was wondering when I saw that...how they did it. Yeah, I imagine CGI, huh? Except it sure looked authentic. That was some Grade-A CGI puke right there.

reply

I've seen it twice and on the 2nd viewing I paid attention... Sure looks like real puke to me.

reply

I'm sure they make canned Barf.

reply

There was a delay between the boy speaking and him vomiting. It's not unreasonable that the boy spoke when he felt the nausea, and then the vomit came. I think I've done it myself a couple of times.

reply

Yeah but I think he's wondering how the actor was able to do that. There were no cuts...he was just sitting there, said what he said...the camera never panned away...and then he puked. Where did that puke come from, you know? He couldn't have said what he said with a mouthful of pretend barf. The camera didn't cut away so that he could put the pretend barf in his mouth...
He said something and then puked...something that personally, I don't think I've ever seen before. Which is why it stood out.

reply

The family in their car had just been driving all over the place erratically under danger of death which would make anyone sick, and maybe the boy's nausea was real, and the camera caught it? It would be impressive if that were the case.

reply

Funny so many people noticed it, including myself. I'd guess the cheapest and easkiest way to do it would be for the kid to say his lines, quickly fill his mouth with creamed corn and have him spew that or whatever recipe the PFX guy made, and digitally make a seamless cut in the middle. The puke looked real/practical, and didn't look like more than a mouthful.

reply

Seamless cuts are hard to do. But perhaps.

reply

The puke was real (I mean, not real real puke, of course.) All the talking before which was CGI.
