Was Memo kind of a subdued Jar Jar Binks character?

Obviously, while he was crazy about Charlie, she clearly had him friendzoned. She seemed more physically attracted to the surfer dude who challenged her to jump off the cliff, and emotionally, she was much closer to Bumblebee.

Memo was only there for comic relief. Not as over-the-top as Jar Jar Binks, but very close.

I have no idea why he was there. He brought literally nothing to the film. Even his comedic follies were rather pointless. Her friendzoning him in the end was the best bit. I didn't think he was a bad character. I wish he had a much larger role. More sreentime for him and less for the mom character.

lol yeah completely friend-zoned. If literally helping her save the day with alien robots doesn't get him a look-in, nothing will.

Yeah seriously there is literally nothing more he could have done. She was independent and didn't need no man .... Nerd boy was also in good shape as well, still no dice.

I didn't mind Memo and i didn't think he was anywhere close to being as annoying as Jar Jar Blink. At least Memo wasn't a racial stereotypes from some vaudeville act in the 1920's. "Mesa People Gonna Die". As far being Friendzoned. I just think that Charlie wasn't interested in a romantic relationship. And i think she was more intimidated by the surfer dude then she was in love with him.
