Makes perfect sense. The 80’s were the decade of the Transfomers. Also, the 80’s are all the rage right now even with the youngsters. You read that right, apart from those who grew up in that decade, the wildly unpopular and godless generation known as millennials and gen z’s are seriously loving these 80’s-inspired shows and movies (it’s true you cranky older and supposed superior generation!). :)
Never been a fan of this franchise, albeit the premise of this upcoming movie did pique my curiosity. Now after seeing the trailer, I gotta say it appears like this is going to be a... genuinely sweet movie. It’s reminiscent of some classic sci-fi films (Spielberg anyone?), but overall it looks interesting and super refreshing for a Transformers movie. Btw, Hailee is great.

What do you all think of the other trailers + TV spots for the film, I do think though that having it opening on Boxing day is a stupid idea for a cinema release for the UK, Where as in other countries it is before that or after Xmas period
shareWell... having already seen an early screening of Bumblebee, I must say that seeing all the tv spots and trailers only makes me want to see it again already. I very much liked this film and can’t wait to see it again, to say the least. (Side note: the whining from the sectarian and so-called cool anti-SJW hatebandwagon crowd is hysterical as always. Although a select few from this crowd that won’t be able to help but like the movie will argue why having a female lead is ok here because it “works for the story”. Please... Go back to burning your Nikes and protesting satanic Starbucks, you mouthbreathing tiki torch fairies.)
Anyway, I know releasing movies, particularly big franchise and holiday-themed movies, during Xmas in the US is considered a good move by the studios. For one thing, kids are out of school for two weeks during this time and many spend their time going to the movies with their family and friends. In other words, movies tend to attract audiences during the holiday season. Last year’s unexpected smash hit, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, came out around Xmas and it proved to be a major hit.
Of course, what sets this year apart from previous years, is there are several BIG movies all being released close to each other or on the same day. Pushing back the release dates of a few of these movies would’ve been a better option so there wouldn’t be so much competition, but it seems the studios releasing these movies feel confident their movies will pull in audiences. With that in mind, Bumblebee does have an uphill battle for several reasons, albeit maybe a good word of mouth (it’s already a critical hit) can help it do well at the box office. So that’s my take. :)
