Strikingly similar plot points to Up (spoilers)

I loved this movie, but did anyone else see the similarities with Up? Old grumpy man, partner dies, made to tag along in Jungle with tubby kid he finds annoying, with dog in tow, in search of mystical place which might not exist, only for the old man and kid to become best buddies. There is even a sub plot with a rare bird who's discovery could make them famous.

I'm not saying it's copied, I just found it interesting to note. The dynamic between the old man and child is very similar.

Even right down to the burying poop scene.

BUT someone mentioned that the book this movie is based on came out before the movie Up. So if anything Disney/Pixar got the ideas from the book.

Well the idea came out of a Barry crump book, he is a New Zealand author. He wrote the book way before the movie up.

The Hunt for the Wilderpeople is based on the book "Wild Pork and Watercress", which was published in 1986. Up came out in 2009, 23 years after the book.

But you're right, the similarities are amazing. You can draw your own conclusions...

It's very clear, Barry the author of the book Wilderpeople was based on, died in 1996. He has obviously been reincarnated as one of Up's writers, and that is how Up came about. Truly amazing. Irrefutable proof of reincarnation yet again.
