Why not let the woman and kid go at the end?

I could understand if the husband was still alive and with them, not wanting to risk them leaving and coming back to kill you and take your food. But i mean Will is now dead and its just the wife and little boy, i highly doubt you'd have to worry about them coming back, i'm sure Kim would want to get as far away from them as possible and never come back.

I just didn't see the need in killing them.

If Will just wanted to leave, then why hold Paul at gun point?

reply

Cause he knew Paul was gonna try and kill them since their kid was sick, and he was which is why he got his gun before going to their room. Will knew Paul wasn't gonna risk letting them go, he knew how Paul thought and there was only one other option in Paul's head which was to kill them just to be safe. So Will prepared himself to keep him and his family safe, which is why he held Paul at gunpoint.

Well, you answered your own question

Yeah Paul's mind was thinking kill them to avoid risk at first, but after killing the husband he clearly should have realized the wife and kid are no threat. Its clear they would have ran far away from that family as possible, she wouldn't risk her or her kids life by going back there to get revenge.

You haven't seen Conan the Barbarian?

The kid would come back to avenge his father :)

Bingo!

My dude. Paul already said, flat out, that he wouldn't let anyone leave cause he thought they would come back to steal their shit if they got desperate.

Paul can be seen as a bad guy of this movie. He's not that far from John Goodman in Cloverfield Lane.

they were all infested and therefore a threat one way or the other. what bothered me more was the fact that the protagonist did not kick the door in and shoot them all, but i also understand that that would surve not the purpose of what the writers had intended. on the other hand the whole ordeal wasn't very clever to begin with.

He couldn't take that chance. They could have recruiter a man to come back with them to extract revenge. After all he DID kill her husband and the kid's father. He did the right thing imho. A tense and intelligent film: 7.5/10.
