She was fine by me. Btw, does anyone know when the show is scheduled to be aired?

After make-up, she looks like Jackie. Also, her depiction of Jackie is adequate. The only problem I have with her portrayal is her accent. She sounds nothing like Jackie.
Jackie didn't have a weird, Bostonian accent such as the one Katie Holmes concocted for this role. Jackie had a breathless, soft, little girl-like cadence to her voice which Holmes doesn't even try to imitate.

I thought she did a great job -- I totally bought her as Jackie and got a sense I was watching Jackie.

Although, as someone has mentioned, the voice was all wrong. Jackie did have a very breathy, higher voice. Perhaps Katie thought an attempt at that would come off too cartoonish. I found Rose's voice and accent to be a bit of a joke, and one bad voice impersonation was enough.

Take it from one who lives in MA, all of their accents were horrible. It would have been better not to even try. They really detracted from the characters.

And Jackie's accent always did annoy me. Why a grown woman would hang onto such a childish voice...maybe someone here has the answer. And she was a smoker so it was even more strange that she maintained that voice into her 60's.

I'm no expert in Massachusetts accents, yet even I knew Rose's accent was totally bad.

About Jackie's high, childish voice -- there are some people who have naturally high voices -- I'm afraid I'm one of them. 'm well into middle-age. But I still get asked if my mommy is home, if I pick up the phone and it's my bank or someplace.

Seriously, all the women in my family have bell-like, higher register voices and they didn't alter much with age. None of us is or were putting it on. I can't change mine. I try. I still sound like a tween-age girl in terms of register. I sound about 12.

I don't smoke, however.

Sounds like your voice never grew up ;o) I say the same thing about my very fine hair, just like a baby's, gr!!

Seriously though, I guess I've never met someone with a high voice. I've encountered young sounding voices on old women but not the high pitched ones.

reply

I'd love to have your baby-fine hair, lol! I used to have fine, silky hair but I now have health problems that have made my silky hair coarser and wiry -- I mourn the loss constantly, lol!
