SPOILERS - Hated The Ending

I really, really hated the ending scene. There was absolutely no good reason for McBride's character to walk into the ocean. He won the case for the client, he redeemed himself to his friends and family, and he did good for the world at large by ratting out the big company to the Feds. So now that means there is no more reason to live? Feh.

reply

He's an alcoholic and in all likelihood depressed - many alcoholics are, right? The case is over and he is left with no-one and no agenda... not even cooperman as a worth adversary. Not everything has to be spelled out surely?

reply

It's just my opinion - I thought it was a too pat and melodramatic ending to what was a pretty damn good story. One last little superfluous attempt at a heartstring tug when it wasn't needed. But's that David E. Kelly for you, stuck in the 90s and never knowing where to stop.

reply

You got it all wrong. Just as he does early in the show, he just takes a bath!

Season 2 is in preparation.

reply

Agreed. He does this all the time, apparently. His daughter didn't even ask him about it when he did it earlier in the show. It's a stupid thing an alcoholic would do.

reply

I think he does it to clear his head so he can drink more. Sort of semi-sobers himself up by his nocturnal swimming.

reply

He didn't kill himself the first time we saw him do it. What makes you think he died this time?

reply

He wasn't suicidal; his daughter's earlier reaction made it look like nocturnal swims were nothing new.

reply

He didnt kill himself.

Lose the Game!!!!!!!

reply

He likes swimming in the ocean.

reply

He walked into the ocean before. I don't think it was suicide.
