It meant well

It had some promise. I was hoping it was going to be a psychological thriller, since I hadn't seen the trailer, but was a bit disappointed when it ended up being more 80s slasher.

That said, I tried to not like it, but it wasn't bad enough to not like. On the other hand, it wasn't bad enough to really like it, either. It was just un-offensively meh.

The acting was okay. I think the script/plot were to blame. It kind of fell apart toward the end. Too bad it didn't explore more conflict between the brothers, or something else to give it a little more depth.

It definitely had a retro-feel. For anyone looking for a kind of fluffy, non-scary horror movie with tame language, campy (but graphic) gore, and no sex/nudity, this might be up your alley.

Why would you try not to like a movie?

Also, the movie might have tame language and no nudity, but it does have a couple of graphic gore scenes. I think that's a detail that should be mentioned.

Anyway, ok movie. Nothing special.

CG gore is the worst thing that has ever happened to the horror genre.

Agreed.

You're right about the gore. I'll add that in.

Generally, when a movie has a bunch of plot holes or a weak story, or tries too hard, I don't like them. And, as far as horror movies go, I have specific standards. For some reason this one didn't bother me, even though I wouldn't like another movie with the same flaws. I actually was surprised when the gore happened, and I appreciated how campy it was executed.

It reminded me of AVGN's "Board James" episodes and for that I liked it. Campy and nostalgic.

Do you have any recommendations for similar things? I'm open to a lot of genres, it just has to be solid.
