historical accuracy

Seems some things were even worse than shown:

Also there are some critiques of its accuracy, but they don't seem that bad.

at the time of Stalin’s death, Molotov had long been sacked and Zhukov demoted to the provinces; Beria’s eventual downfall, which the film squeezes into a few days, actually took several months and was prompted in part by events in East Germany

Isn't this film meant to be a comedy?

reply

It's not really a laugh a minute comedy, but a satire. So it kind of depends on at least being close to accurate.

I thought they did an excellent job straddling the line between funny and historical -- not easy to do!

reply

I missed it in theatre, but it's on my to watch list

reply

Missed it? Thought it just opened... (USA)

reply

It opened months ago in some countries abroad... We get some of the international and smaller movies before general release in the US.

I think this is partly because this movie is a UK production.

reply

I see. But who's "we"? Espana?

reply

Oh, Dubai 😉

It showed at the Dubai film festival as well.

reply

Wow, exotic!

reply

I just saw it. Still in theaters in my area.
