I guess some of you can't see the humour in it ?

Yes it's a bit creepy but for me it's his 'catchphrase' and it's to lighten the mood after seeing the weapon destroy a target, incase people are a bit squeamish.

reply

Seems like in the second season he softened it a bit.

He mostly now seems to say "It will cut".

reply

well it's based on the target of the test, if it's an animal carcass or ballistic dummy then it's 'kill'.

Anything else is cut.

reply

You're right about the target. It usually some object in Round 2 that he say "It will cut", and he says "It will kill" when the test the blade on a ballistic dummy or an animal carcass in Round 3.

I love it how that line has become a meme to the smithing-scene. Even some of the candidates use it.
