Spanish speakers: Chavas "-way"

Hi, all.

No habla Espanol.

I'm watching the show with subtitles and especially in the first season I noticed how often Chava's sentences end with this long "waay"-sound. Something no other character seems to do.

Is this some kind of slang he's using? If so, does it come across as legit or as dorky? Or am I completely mistaken? Maybe someone can shine a light on this for me.
