Third Slasher series with a predictable killer. WTF

Scream was beyond obvious
Scream Queens had up to 4 killers and each of them were predictable (however this show at least didn't play it serious unlike Scream or Slasher)

And now Slasher

Why are they choosing the most predictable people to be the killer?

And even though it's hard to maintain some sort of suspense after 8 - 13 episodes, whenever it's down to the final 2 suspects it's always the more obvious one!

reply

Gigi and Boone were predictable? Hmm, okay. I predicted Cam to be the killer too but I'm not upset about it. I would rather see Cam be the killer than have the writers pull a lame twist out of their ass or have it be someone completely irrelevant like Sharma (some people here were throwing him around as a suspect). At least it all makes sense. I think Dylan would have been the "most obvious" choice.

reply

Boone was revealed in the first episode.... Gigi was a bit of a surprise but she didnt even do any/most of the killings.

Cam was my #1 suspect and Dylan was #2. Its not upsetting its just annoying.

I agree making some irrelevant character the killer is equally stupid. I forgot to add Pretty Little Liars to the list even though it's not technically a slasher.

reply

True! My apologies then. That Boone scene in the first episode completely slipped my mind. I hated Scream Queens and didn't even bother to watch it through a second time. Regardless of if Gigi killed or not, her involvement was surprising to me personally.

I get your point but this is a very low budget show with a small cast. Unless they made it somebody irrelevant the only legitimate options they had were Dylan, Cam, and Alan. And Dylan or Alan wouldn't have necessarily been any less obvious. Based on the available options I think they made the right choice.

reply

Completely agree on all counts

Dylan was way too obvious
Robin didn't have enough screen-time or development and wouldn't even make sense
Sarah would be COMPLETELY ridiculous

Cam was the perfect suspect and candidate

I'm not saying this show was perfect - it was on the Chiller network after all and the acting was barely passable (especially Katie McGrath in the finale) but it was very enjoyable and made more sense than Scream Queens (which i thought sucked)

I hope there's a second season but if not then i will buy the potential DVD's or download the episodes and keep them on my harddrive to rewatch

i guess i won't be watching Scream Queens

Why? It's definitely worth a watch, despite the fact that the killers' identities have been spoiled.

Respect what you have 🌌

reply

i'm ok with it being Cam. i'm just glad the actor was actually able to convey a psycho infinitely better than the actress playing Piper on the SCREAM show.

reply

She was so awful. They could have picked an amateur off the street to do the job and gotten a better performance.

reply

Nicolee, so true! LOL.

reply

Agreed. Cam was really good at playing a psycho much better than the killer is scream or even Harper's island IMO

reply

Steve Byers was actually pretty decent in this - it was Katie McGrath who was the weakest link - she was awful - especially in the finale

reply

Steve Byers was okay up until his last scene with Katie McGrath where he died, where his acting went to hell. That said, McGrath's performance was wretched.

Scream still wins on worst performance by a landslide, though

But Scream still wins cause #mindblown.

Disagreed. Outside of Gigi, I didn't call any of them, and I KNOW you are lying when you said you called all four, since everyone agreed that Boone was going to be the second victim and not a killer. Though most shocking for me was Hester, wrote the person off as way too obvious.

Scream and Slasher were predictable. Harper's island too. ironically, all three used the exact same character archetype as the killer.

if you want lurk back at all my scream queens, be my guest. hester and boone were my prime suspects next to abigail breslin (chanel 5?) and i didnt say i called all four of them working together, but after boone died, and gigi, it was clearly hester or whatshisface who killed that twin broter with the nailgun. hester was incredibly predictable especially when you take into account the lea michele/ryan murphy association. and boone/gigi had 0 suspense. we find out about them rather immediately and boone who was revealed in the damn pilot did 90% of the killings!

i never saw harpers island but i heard similar things. Pretty little liars is also pretty bad. i dont get how these shows, clearly working with an established horror fan audience, write these dumb idiotic and obvious killers rehashed from popular horror movies like half of this show was a rip off of Se7en and Halloween with some silence of the lambs.

i can forgive PLL and Scream Queens as their audeince is mixed with a teenage fan girl and comedy, but Scream and Slasher???? Scream literally changed the gender of scream 3, and slasher ripped off every popular horror movie rather terribly.

 I apologize for any spelling/grammar mistakes. I'm on my phone 90% of the time.

PLL is by far the most unforgivable of these reveals and it's not even close. That idiot of a shworunner legitimately pulled a name out of a hat because she didn't have a damn clue who to pick, and then the motive was even worse (and ran into very unfortunate implications)

Agreed on Scream and Slasher. Though at least Scream had Audrey (who was predictable, but I did like her)

PLL at the end of the day is an ABC Family Show. IMK is a hack and possibly the biggest liar. The fact I continued watching despite my best judgement after Mona was revealed just like in the books... i have no one to blame except myself ???

Overall, Slasher is the best slasher series so far. Despite its crappy writing it has good "horror" in it and felt like an actual horror mini-series. I liked Scream Queens a lot too. Scream is merely average.

reply

I'd rank them-

1. Scream - Sliiiightly above average, but still pretty eh. 5-6/10
2. Harper's Island - Liked it until the dire finale
3. Slasher - Incredibly weak - Like a 2/10
4. Scream Queens - Absoutely putrid. It had some good characters (HEster, CHad, Cathy, #5, Gigi, Boone, Pete), and the finale was excellent, but far too little far too late. I'm tempted to say 1... but I'll give it a 2 for those positives

I guess it hinges on whether you like the main story line, setting, actors, etc. I never watched Scream Queens b/c of some of the actors, so never watched it. For Slasher, I liked almost all of the cast and their acting, so it appealed to me. But I hear what you're saying.

reply

yeah, i'm expecting better from Banshee in this final season, although that's not a slasher show
