Half way through in the UK, as it been renewed or was it a one off?

We don't know yet.

If there's a season 2 it'll be a whole new story anyway.

Like American Horror Story? I was confused at the finale of season 1 of AHS, couldn't get into storyline for season 2 and DVR broke season 3! Going to finally catch up on Netflix!
