Yeah, that was a distracting factor for me. The actress, Wendy Crewson, just turned 60 this month. Her character must have been older than that, but didn't look it. Her acting was decent, but otherwise it wasn't great casting.
shareI think the indication was that she was a teen mom, most likely with the mayor being the father. Sarah did call him grandpa... And her grandma said she'd had an affair with him as teens. She had been trying to kill his girlfriend with the brick, but missed and hit the other girl by accident.

Sarah was born in 1988. Seeing as how the story is in present day, 2016, that makes her 28, and grandma would be 64-66.

They mention that Sarah's turning 30 on her birthday, on the Halloween anniversary of her parents' deaths. Either the show isn't set in the current year, or some dates got mixed up somewhere. Either way, gma would be in her mid 70s. I didn't buy it, either.

Okay, I misread the title card as 1957. I was binge-watching it and doing other stuff at the same time and thought that's what it said. So, Wendy Crewson was only playing about years out of her age range. Not unbelievable. But the mom was only 19? Her 35 year old husband turned her into a porn star at a very young age. Both she and gma were really bad judges of character. Dylan mentioned early in the series that Sarah's parents were murdered 30 years earlier, but he could've just been rounding it up. Overall, not a bad season. Can't wait till next year.

I don't recall anything about Sarah turning 30, either. I know they've said the murders were 28 years ago.
Also, I became a grandpa at 37. If my grandchild has a child at 16, I'll only be 53. Friends of mine had a daughter get pregnant at 14, making them grandparents at 32.
In the pilot, Dylan mentioned them taking the house where the murders happened 30 years ago, but he could've just been rounding up.

Yeah, I figured the mom would have had to be 19/20 when she was murdered, and that was the part I didn't buy.

shareIt's possible to be a young grandma, sure... But it doesn't make sense with the age of the mom. We know Sarah's mom was not a teen (or it's unlikely.. they owned a home, etc). If Sarah = 29/30... and her mom was like 20 at youngest... and Grandma was say 16 at youngest... then Grandma is like 66... That actress definitely can't pass for 66. She doesn't even look her age of 60!
Even if Sarah's mom was like 16 to... You'd have 16 + 16... 32... Plus 30... 62... Meh. I guess she could be 62 but that's pushing it for her appearance and Sarah's mom's lifestyle didn't believably seem like something a 16 year old teen mom would be living... And pregnant in 68... she'd be 37 or 38 years old... so minus Sarah's age.. even if Sarah isn't 29/30 as some were saying... It just doesn't make sense.
Little things like this bug me too lol but I am able to put it out of my mind eventually. It's such a creepy and suspenseful show. I usually don't like slasher style movies or shows, but this one is pretty captivating. It's not just mindless gore (even though there's some of that lol).
It wasn't just the grandma, unless I missed something, the character Heather is Ariel's mom and not sister right? That would have been another teenage birth. I guess they procreate really young in that town.
