Slasher or Scream?

Similar series with a weak/boring central character and a masked serial killer. Neither of them are masterpieces, but I just found Slasher so much fun than Scream and more gory too.

Definitely dlasher and I think Sarah is a much better character than Emma so far; I actually care if Sarah lives

Scream just didn't try hard enough. Not sure why they felt the need to remake the first movie cast and setting wise, but then downgrade in almost every sense of that. Not to mention the bad writing, the bad acting, the predictable killer... the only decent thing about Scream's first season were some decent kills. Why MTV decided not to make it an anthology is beyond me. They could've fixed all this in Season 2 and just pretended Season 1 doesn't exist. Sorry, but those characters aren't remotely interesting enough to warrant another season.

This is better despite the annoying Se7en/7 deadly sins tiresome plotline.

Scream MTV(especially when you find out the killer) is pretty *beep* barring a few good moments

The killer's reveal was incredibly bad in Scream. And predictable. Sigh, I wish they'd actually hire good writers and wipe the slate clean for season 2.

Are you even serious?
Scream looked as a pathetic teenage drama with serial killer subplot.

i liked Scream more but this show is very good

I think they're both equal, they're just aimed to different fanbases. Scream is so late 90's horror inspired, beyond the obvious Scream influence. It's all based on the time in horror where everything was about likable teens living normal lives who happen to come across a serial killer and the way it's shot kind of matches that, along with it's slightly muted tone. Slasher is pure 80's right down to the villain design and the unashamed love of gore and violence. Depends on which era of horror you prefer but I admittedly lean towards Scream because it feels like the stuff that got me into the genre, but Slasher is such a great fawning love letter to the classics of the genre that I'm honestly stunned I never heard of it until today (I'm watching it on Netflix now, god I hope there's a second season)

Scream is consistently mediocre whereas Slasher started off strong and then quickly faltered. Those last two episodes were horrible.

However, both had predictable killer revelations.

Slasher has a far more organic feel to it. The cast look like everyday people unlike Scream where the whole cast are pristine and have that Dawson's Creek/Smallville smugness to them. The writing in Slasher is far more natural too. The story is a lot more engaging and I like how the dirty past comes to the surface for almost every character. It has slasher and other horror/thriller elements to it as well. Scream is fun and fast paced but on the surface is a really shallow show. Slasher for the win.
