very wrong title but, very good movie !

hi,

i am truly sure there's a tone of people who thinks that "christine" is definitely the movie about the Car...Carpetnter's movie...

it is, it was and it will remain the cartpenter's movie ultimate title !

why did the director not change its title ?

it could name that brilliant movie "Christie", Christina....
no, the cinema memory will have to confuse about 2 great movie with the same name !

damn direct advisor, i guess he was a local apprentice !
Seriously, i can't believe the director didn't think about that point himself !
Not Christine !!!!

Christine is a car, not a people !

The movie Christine 'originally ' did have another title it was called "the newsroom " when the story of Christine Chubbuck's life & death was taken and used as the plot about a man who gets upset and angry.

The difference is, "Christine" immortalized Carpenter as an incredible director... no doubt about that.
But "Christine" (2016) eternalized both Christine Chubbuck and her story.

I agree with usa-mike. Poor choice to use her first name as the title. A more descriptive title would have generated more interest in the film. The Newsroom was an equally poor choice due to the well known HBO series of that name. Both choices were lazy and both duplicated other existing titles that would always be better known. I was interested in this movie from the moment I first heard about it, but always had a hard time searching for it because I never could remember the tile and had to try to find it from Rebecca Hall's page. Good thing I at least knew her name.

Even more so given that almost everyone in the movie called her Chubbuck, not Christine.
