Did anyone think a twist was coming?

I might be crazy, but I kept thinking they were gonna reveal that autoerotic asphyxiation was really behind her death. It was just too weird with the circumstances of killing herself at the front door and using his belt.

I thought in the beginning of the movie that it was Eric and/or his buddy Greg. Eric lived in the apartment complex so maybe they are psychopathic murderers who stages the suicide. Greg even said something about a real "catharsis" the next day. Maybe they would reveal that they killed her and are cannibals and are going to eat them all haha. I'm watching too many movies I guess.

I think that is a deliberate part of the movie, making sense of a suicide like that. It seems unthinkable that she killed herself then and there and you look for other explanations and just can't accept the truth. Like her parents basically going nuts.

But deep down it kind of makes sense. If Rachel was depressive and always puts on this mask of being happy and normal and trying to fake it, a birthday puts on more pressure. It makes sense that she killed herself then because she just didn't want to do it anymore, feeling like nothing will ever make her feel ok. Or maybe that is just a cliche.

In the end I'm not sure anything is really resolved. A lot of weird stuff happened over the weekend but Joshy is still stuck with this *beep* Or maybe this was what he needed, to know life goes on and is just that - weird.

Good points. I agree that having to play fake happy during someone's birthday would be really tiring for a depressive person.
Additionally, It might have been some kind of trivial revenge she wanted to get in how she commited the actual act, because in the opening Joshy seems to be kind of cold/distant with her when she's talking too him.

Fck i love imdb. You all got beards and red checkered shirts too? Drinking craft brew out of glass jars and smoking your pulled pork for like, what, 29 hours? I do.
Thanks. Decent reading.

Yeah I thought it was going to be revealed that the cause was autoerotic asphyxiation. The front door really seemed like a strange place to do it. Since there was other doors in the apartment, but it might be because that was the strongest door. So it seemed like she knew it would hold, like she did it before.

What really annoyed me was how the parent's second autopsy came up inconclusive. Any coroner could see that a belt was around her neck, so I dont know how it could be inconclusive two different times.

Yeah, that second autopsy part did not help my confusion. I really kept assuming that once Joshy felt some level of guilt for not predicting or avoiding her suicide, that it would be revealed that she was just rubbin' one out while he was at the gym.
Or that Joshy knew the whole time and could not figure out what would be more embarrassing to her parents, A.E.A. accident or just plain suicide.

I kept waiting for something bizarre behind her death to be the outcome. I was just waiting for something, anything to happen. I don't know if they had a script or if it was just a bunch of friends with a camera for a weekend. I actually expected more considering the cast, but they really had nothing to work with.

There was a twist, though not a real groundbreaking one, when the stalker/peeper following them throughout the movie was revealed to be a private detective hired by Rachel's parents. I thought it was a decent flick with some semi-interesting subtext.
