Religion

Disappointed to see Pixar dedicate a short to a single religion and show it to be really cool and engaging. It was bordering on religious propaganda, and if you want an equal world where are the films for Christianity, Jewdaism, Atheism, Rastapharianism, etc?

reply

Agreed.

I was very saddened that Pixar has stooped to making short films about ANY religion.

I am baffled that it has been shortlisted to win the Oscar.

You're an idiot

there are no gods of any kinds

~I see a little silhouette of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango.

reply

oh really? So all your pixel brain could understand is that they intended to portray religious ideas INSTEAD of bonding between a kid and his dad?

I guess I'm not being PC enough, or am I being too PC?

reply

You are. Obviously you missed the point on what the short was REALLY trying to convey entirely.

Yea we never see movies about Christ, Moses or Noah.. How dare Pixar askew this age old rule of leaving religion out of Hollywood by making a 7 minute indoctrination into Hinduism.. Thank you for speaking up.. Changing worlds !!!

"Christianity"

You mean like half the epics ever told in the golden years of movies (Ben Hur, Spartacus, Greatest Story Ever Told, etc.)

Then there's Left Behind and its remake.

Hell, you have Risen coming out in just a few weeks. So STFU about your bs.

The point is that the fact that the short takes place around a Hindu prayer/meditation time, and then the film is applauded for its diversity and no one finds any fault in it having the religious tone. But, if the same exact short with the same plot line of daydreaming superheroes happened to a Christian father and son at prayer time, there would be an uproar, no doubt. Even if the sentiment was exactly the same, even if the creators said that it's "really" about the father/son relationship. No one would have been able to get over that it was about a Christian family.

My 3 year old daughter loved the cartoon, & she's white, & brought up by atheist parents.

We are teaching her to be respectful of people's beliefs, no matter where they were originally from.

It's called being part of a multicultural society, it has nothing to do with being PC, which for some bizarre reason everyone is claiming.
