"He's 8, he can't make that decision"

Tell us that when your child's terminally ill and sick to death of being sickened to death by the 'medicine', Natalie. The child knows pain and suffering and they know when they don't want anymore. Granted, there should be laws in place to make sure kids get medical care, but the law isn't the one that has to take chemotherapy, and clearly none of the lawmakers had kids who did and who gave up because it didn't do any good. There need to be exemptions when underage patients explicitly do not want to continue 'treatment'.

The child was tired of the pain

reply

Exactly, the child knows it better than the doctors do who claim THEY know better than everyone.
