Per Deadline.com, ABC dropped the axe on this one today. Although I don't like seeing people lose their jobs, I'm not surprised, I didn't think the show was all that good.
Sorry I can't create a link, but any entertainment site will have it.
I think the cancellation was the right decision. Personally I did not like the way the plot was going at all. Hopefully they can regroup and make a new film or a better series down the line
I LOVED this incarnation of the Muppets and am sad it's already gone after one season. I'll definitely buy season one on Blu Ray or dvd when it comes out.
It's kind of a bummer as a fan, but I knew it wouldn't last long due to its radical swerve from the regular Muppet style humour. It needed some work in its climaxes and new characters (Denise was a total blank, Chip was... a creep), but it did make me laugh.
There's bound to be some new Muppet content soon, because Disney wants to hold on to every franchise it has, but I can't see anything major for the characters outside of the occasional TV special in the near-future.
To cash in on the "mockumentary" sitcom craze that's been happening ever since The Office. For the record I liked this show a lot, but I can see why it failed.
Maybe the popularity that the 2011 Muppets movie generated has just fizzled out by now, specially after the somewhat disappointing Muppets Most Wanted movie (cause it didn't do that well in the box office).

You mean when Kermit becomes a crook?
Well people dont want the Muppets to be crooks or anything not perfect LOL
but the problem with Muppet movies is everything is perfect you know. WHen its not look at Ross Lynch naked several time lol when his finally naked I think he wont have to worry much LOL
No one thought a Vaudeville inspired show would last long in the 70s. The Muppet Show ended up lasting for 5 seasons and could have gone on longer if Jim Henson had wanted to move on to other projects.
We should see the reboot, tonight, you know to try it out!

What do you mean? Variety shows were all the rage back in the 70s. Whenever someone tries one today they last only a season (some even less).

I disagree. With the popularity of shows like "Dancing With the Stars" and "America's Got Talent" I think a Variety show can still work.
"Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris" (the most recent variety show) got cancelled after one season. Every other variety show that has been attempted in the last decade has failed as well.

I wasn't a huge fan of the series either. I didn't think the show was all that bad. It was pretty decent for the most part. It did felt a little bit boring and dry at times.
Yep, the show is over. While it could get picked up by another network, that seems a long shot. If the owners of the Muppets (Disney) can't get it to fly on their network (ABC)...

I am surprised how little commitment ABC (Disney) gave the Muppets. Hate to say it but the Muppets will now be seem less. Don't expect any more movies either. A real shame.
This is why network TV is dying because they don't give shows a real chance anymore. I'm not saying The Muppets was ever going to be a great show but I would liked a least one more season to see if it could improve. The Simpsons, Married With Children and Seinfeld all considered classics today but started out slow and the networks actually gave them time to improve.
So the Muppets gets cancelled and the Kardashians are still on. What kind of a world do we live in?
I can't blame the network though; they are simply adhering to what the viewers want. The dumb masses just didn't support it. No wonder Trump is doing so well in the polls.

that is the best question here. it absolutely makes no sense
I was surprised when I first heard the Muppets were back, and on primetime!
A Muppet show that would last these days, wouldn't be the Muppet's we like and appreciated unless maybe it was a kids show. It would have to at feature some reality TV aspects and "the Office" style, doesn't come close enough. It would have to have the kind of shock value that hooks people in to catch the next episode from the last.
