Team Captains/Leaders?

What is the point of naming the team leader AFTER the the drill down challenge?

It's like, your team won and BTW, you're the team leader so here's the gold tag.

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to declare the two team captains before any challenges commence for the day? That way, the person picked has a little added motivation and/or pressure.
