After the effort the underbellies have put in to having their actors looking similar to the real people, Malcolm's completely different look is quite distracting.
Maybe I'm spoilt.

shareThere are photos of Milat around the time of the murders where he was actually quite handsome (I mean that factually, not as a compliment) -- he didn't always look like that famous photo of him with the black bush hat, nor the simple-minded grinning idiot he looked like in the footage of him being taken into court (where he was probably just getting off on the attention).
I'm just watching it now for the first time, and I agree Malcolm did a great job capturing the feel of the vicious bastard, and I guess that's the important bit.
