Not a great movie

Considering the great cast and wonderful writer that were involved in making in this film, it's a disappointment. I can't really point to a certain part of the movie and say it was done poorly but it just didn't catch me. I love this writer, David Hare. He's terrific but there was something missing for me. I think it did a good job though of making me feel empathetic towards the antagonist ( he was genuinely sweet with his daughter) but recognizing that this man supports some pretty abhorrent ideas. Likewise with the protagonist, her cause was noble but she herself seemed self righteous (she wanted to testify in court even though her attorneys recommended silence). 6/10 generously.

I haven't seen this as yet but hope to soon.Given the content I imagine it was a difficult film to make.

I like that you describe how the characters were portrayed. That the antagonist, albeit,a terribly flawed individual was also human and that the protagonist was at times unlikeable whilst fighting a noble cause. It's quite skillful and almost brave to take it this way when it'd be easy to go a more good vs bad route.

I liked this film.. I know it hasn't got great reviews so was expecting to be disappointed, but I thought it was well done.
