A knock at Stranger Things.

I liked how they made a joke about Stranger Things and the upside down world. The OA is way better than Stranger Things.

I just binged both seasons of this show and Stranger Things back to back. It's like comparing apples to golf balls (or some other item that's not fruit). The two shows have nothing in common besides the concept of parallel worlds. That mention of the Upside Down actually struck me as a plug. Don't forget to watch season 3 folks! Right here on Netflix.

The OA definitely out-stranges Stranger Things though. I don't think there's ever been anything on TV remotely like it. Suddenly she's talking to a giant octopus and nothing about the situation seems out of place. They manage to be trippy and mind blowing yet coherent and well-organized at the same time, not an easy trick to pull off.

Completely agree! The OA is an underrated show that didn’t get much promotion from Netflix like they promoted Stranger Things, so no one has even heard of it to check it out. In my opinion, The OA is like the adult version of Stranger Things haha

Too bad it was cancelled. Pissed me off.

Well fans are making a lot of noise bothering Netflix to bring it back. So they are fighting really hard to get it renewed. There’s a petition going that already has over 80,000 signatures, they funded a billboard in Times Square to Save The OA, and they’ve done many other things. They lost a lot of subscribers due to angry fans, so you’re not the only one. They definitely aren’t letting this go and because of all the noise and promotion they’ve been doing, more people have checked out the show and joined the fandom to help save it. Hopefully Netflix will come to their senses and change their mind soon!

I doubt if anything will happen because when I complained to Netflix I got a very disappointing response. Also I heard that a week or two ago all the actors were released from their contracts after Netflix rejected the idea of there being a two hour movie finale to the show. For some reason Netflix isn't really interested in original content anymore or so it seems.

Netflix just says the same thing over and over if you call them, that the show is cancelled and they have two remaining season. They’re getting aggravated because fans won’t let it go, which means they’re listening. And if they want the fans to stop they have to give them what they want. Actors were released from contracts yes, but 2 of them are being pretty vocal about how the fans should keep fighting and not give up. They got enough attention to get offered a 2 hour wrap up but with what the creators have planned they can’t fit the rest of the 24 hour story into 2 hours. It will kill (and rush) the story and the art of it. So I’m okay with the creators turning down that offer. The more people who check out the show the more cancellations there will be. If Netflix will just give the fans at least a third season, they’ll not only get their subscribers back but even more people subscribed than before. Disney plus and Apple TV is about to come out so once that hits and Netflix loses even more subscribers, they may start thinking about caring about their customers and getting them back. But we’ll see what happens, I think it’s still going strong for now with the fans so there’s still a chance Netflix will change their mind. Netflix doesn’t care about art, all they care about is money, so that’s what the fans are trying to take away from them since their money isn’t going to the shows they love. You just have to keep fighting the system!

I know, but this isn't my first time complaining about a show being cancelled. With all the complaints I have lodged over the years, I don't remember one of the cancelled shows I loved ever coming back. I guess I will have to hope for the best, but with Netflix's hollow response to my complaint, I still don't see anything happening. Sad to say.

From what I’ve seen a lot of people got different responses. Even ones that were a bit rude. But Netflix thinks if they just ignore or give off rude remarks, it’ll make the fans give up... which is what they want. Sense8 is the only original that I’ve seen that Netflix did finally give in to bringing back when fans wouldn’t stop bothering them with it. So I think it’s a 50/50 chance of maybe getting a 3rd season of the OA or maybe not. Although they’re asking for a full season and not a movie, it is something fans are going to have to fight twice as hard for. But like I said, we’ll see what happens... until the fans call it quits there’s still a good chance of it possibly getting renewed.

You are so right about the rudeness. They don't want to be bothered by this. They want it to go away. This is a new way companies treat people now. Over the past two years I have complained to companies(mostly about food portions and additives or products that have changed ingredients that no longer do what they once did) and time after time I have gotten the response that I got from Netflix or a very hollow one. These companies do these things to save money and think that no one will notice. The bottom line is profit and s companies have figured out that if they just save money by changing a product, offering smaller portions at a the same price or just getting rid of a product they can dupe the consumer. When a consumer figures out what they are doing, well, they just don't like it and can become quite condescending or downright rude. I have gotten this same response over and over again. They just don't care about their customers anymore...and don't have to.

I noticed it too. Companies slowly increase price for the same products or decrease the amount of product. Most thing that aggravates me is that few supermarkets started doing this trick: Price of product on the shelf is different (cheaper) and price at the cashier is expensive. Like, yesterday I wanted to buy a beer, it said 2$ on the shelf, when I went to cashier, she said 2.10$. I told her it had 2$ at the shelf. She said, seems like prices went high, if you want pay 2.10$ or just leave it... And it's not the first time they do this... They always have this same answer.

After dealing with big companies like Netflix, Google or any big corporation, I came to conclusion that they don't care about customers. They only care about money. Corporations are greedy. They will abuse their power to silence you if they don't like your opinion. Bright example is Quora website. Even forums do that. You say something that others don't like, moderators don't like, they will ban you.

reply

Yup, it's a new world where corporations don't have to give a shit about its customers. Their attitude is you either take it or leave it. We don't care.

reply

Agreed. Stranger Things wasn't bad, but it's still a kid's show and The OA is more interesting and more adult oriented. I think The OA was a truly beautiful masterpiece ever made. Very underrated. We wanted to watch episode after episode... You know what angers me most? That thing that TV shows like The OA are getting canceled and garbage TV shows like Fear The Walking Dead continues...

reply

yeah it sucks and when I complained to Netflix about the canceling of The OA, they dismissed my concerns and were almost rude about it.
