I love this show apart from the fact that in the real world there is no way a guy who shoots random commercials and bit parts in movies would ever be able to afford an apartment like his. The irregularity of his pay checks alone would make paying monthly rent a difficulty, it's really bothered me throughout the series 😡
shareThat is something they do with every show set in NY. They can't use realistic shoe box sized apts because there's no room to shoot and no room for characters to move around. It was the same with Friends- none of those people could realistically afford their apartments. You just have to suspend your disbelief and don't ever expect to find an apt like you see on TV if you move there!
shareI believe he claims early on that the residuals from one big commercial he starred in still covers his rent. Whether or not that would be possible, I don't know, but that's the show's explanation.
