How do people get paidf?

I've often wondered when a movie is this awful - how do people get paid?
I presume they're not doing it for the love although this looks like its a film student's college project shot on his camcorder so maybe everyone did it as a favour?
I don't think I've ever sat through such a bad film and made it to the end, the acting is so over the top cringe-worthy with a script written on the bag of a fag packet and every cliche in the book used to move it along (dream sequences in a coma - really?!!)
Chris Bell has 'made it' to IMdb and has written and made a movie, more than I've ever done but then again, I'm not embarassed to show my face after this load of old pony.
