After Judy Smith left her job in the G. H. W. Bush administration, she founded a crisis management firm and became Shonda Rhimes's model for the character of Olivia Pope on Scandal. share
Only Anita Hill is a real person and Olivia Pope is a fictional character. It was made clear in the movie, that Smith was not comfortable being in the position she was with the Thomas confirmation. He's proven to be a lackluster justice, so Bush would have been better off withdrawing the nomination.
