With each episode I kept thinking the next would get better, but it just didn't, was talking to some friends before tonights episode and said there must be a huge twist at the end.

sharethe ending was tragic ending to what looked like a perfect family...in a way the writers made it a more happy ending under the circumstance...At least Dr. Foster got her son, got career back and kept her home....if they really wanted a harsher ending closer to truth...the husband would have made his millions hidden it from her, forcing her and the son to move into a smaller flat and she would have to start over while the ex husband is living fine and dandy with his younger wife and new child.

shareI loved the ending because it was realistic. Gone Girl endings where the husband is left suffering doesn't happen in real life.
In the end they all got what they wanted. She got her job back and got to keep the house and custody of their son. Simon's relationship with his mistress was made public, so no more hiding and sneaking around. They were both vile, but they really did seem to love each other. I do feel bad for the son. First, your dad is expecting a baby with his young girlfriend, and then he moves away?? I would be pissed.
