Does this show inflate British demographics/lifestyles?

The people on this show seem to live a lot better than many other people in British shows I've watched.

The housing is all really nice, Gemma and Simon live in a pretty big house with a yard, and of course Chris (Kate's dad) would pass for pretty rich in the US, with his vacation home in France, big house, pool, etc.

I get that Gemma is a doctor, but with the NHS in the UK, are doctors that well compensated, especially GPs? She was the "lead" physician at her practice, but did that mean much when the NHS seems to allow hypochondriacs to make daily appointments?

Even the black girl with the abusive boyfriend seemed to live in nice housing, and the assumption there is that they are both working class.

Obviously there are living standard and housing variations across Britain -- I expect urban areas to be more expensive, housing smaller and probably a lot older, and small-mid size cities to offer larger properties at more affordable rates.

But in my experience in visiting the UK, I seldom encountered areas anywhere that were so "American Suburban". It was either an urban area with obviously expensive housing or much smaller or more beat-down looking housing. Even in more rural towns we visited, most everyone lived in quite small houses with not really any yard to speak of, and sometimes a good chunk of it looked kind of beat down.
