Why did Chris Parks invest with Simon?

He suggested that Simon was a terrible businessman, constantly making mistakes and presumably wasting money. Yet he kept investing, despite the personal/legal risks and the fact the he had to be a mostly silent partner, which probably allowed Simon to continue making bad investments.
