Where to begin?
There are so many pointless events in this series that I doubt I could number them all.
Her whole family situation and the girls going off and being returned home could have been dispensed with.
As could her relationship with the other cop - it was pointless.
The aunt and American back story - pointless.
The plot was sabotaged by meaningless episodes that simply wasted time for no reason.
The half brother revelation and subsequent suicide - the shredding of the will - all pointless.
And the end?
Why would the assassin kill his female comrade - just because "he was prone to violent outbursts" ? Wouldn't his organisation have something to say about that?

Why would he turn his attention to the female cop? All he had to do was get on a plane and go home.
How did he enter her house in the end - when the locks had been changed?
How did he survive multiple stab wounds to the stomach - none of which got a spot of blood on her that I could see.
I found this very disappointing.
There were far too many sub plots to ram home the "Sweden is tolerant" message - the story got lost in the self congratulation.

A great deal could (and has been) written about certain odd pointless bits.

But the plot about the half-brother was the central plot that drove the entire story, was it not? How might that be dispensed with?

Yes - you are right - I am wrong !!!
But by the time the reveal came I didn't care anyway !!
