I really wanted to like this but it's so average - the writing is weak and some of the acting has been terrible at times. Has it been picked up for a second season?

I agree. I loved Anzac Gurls, and London Hospital, and Crimsonn Fields...all the same general idea, nurses and Doctor Sr. In war time.

But as you say, this just sort of plods along. It's not awful, it's just not as good as the others I've mentioned in this genre, which is what I was hoping for.

Not me. Love it!!! Although the accents with some, especially Alice Green, are too "southern" for Alexandria. Virginia had more of a mid-Atlantic accent.
