Why no mention of A MIAMI TAIL (2003)?

Look it up -- it's the SAME FILM! Other than changing the setting to Chicago, Spike Lee essentially remade this picture and, apparently, gave no credit. Or did he and I missed it? While it COULD be argued that they're both simply based on the same source material much like filmmakers have done contemporary spins on the likes of Shakespeare for decades, the fact is that these two films are far too similar to just be happenstance. The simple fact that they both adapt the tale to modern black culture in violent urban centers is the most obvious sign, but then there's the fact that they're both musicals. Granted, CHI-RAQ benefits from a larger budget, a higher level of technical know-how and, of course, a lot of top-drawer talent in front of the camera, but it's surprising how A MIAMI TAIL has almost never come up in the discussion of the newer film.
