watching it now and just got to the whale scene. the cgi has been awful the whole movie but holy fucking shit. this is some of the worst cgi ive seen in a big-scale effects fest like this. this would've looked bad 10-15 years ago...i honestly cant imagine seeing this cgi get a pass in theaters in 2007. movies like the golden compass and war of the worlds looked a lot better from that time period.

That's ironic considering Robert Zemeckis' hard-on for CGI technology the last twenty years. From the trailers, Honest John and Gideon didn't look bad. The brief shots of Pleasure Island looked phenomenal but how was that sequence in the movie?

The whale scene was terribly made, they did such a terrible job with the CGI I was impressed as well
