Cartoony violence

Loved this series outside of episode 1, but I had a problem with many of the scenes that were building up to be serious altercations but ultimately dissolved into cartoony violence (i.e. the Shaolin and Zeke fight and the fact that there was way too much shoving on the show but no actual punches being thrown). Alternatively, there were a few too many scenes where the violence randomly escalated. I understand that you don't steal someone's mixtape, but did they really have to have the guy pull a gun on them? It seemed out of place.
