Love the show...Inaccuracy spotted...

I don't think the show was showcasing it being popular at the time. I think it was showing it as the underground performance in the ballroom scene that it was at the time considering voguing had been around since the 1960s. The show was just showcasing another underground scene that was emerging just like rap as well as punk and also showing how that scene helped in the popularization of disco and certain disco singers/groups.

Yeah it started around the 60's in the Harlem ballroom scene. They called it Performance dancing (sometimes Presentation as well). It later somewhat evolved and was later called Voguing but I think as you said that was the 80's. Maybe since the term voguing is more recognizable name..they just went with that..but a form of it was definitely around before the 80's.
