Suppressed Rifles

First off, excellent show. Norway in constantly creating impressive movies and television.

I was wondering why the soldiers are always using suppressed weapons, even when there seems to be no need? I'm not an expert, but wouldn't this effect the accuracy? What's the point?

A suppressor, sound suppressor, sound moderator, or silencer is a device attached to or part of the barrel of a firearm or air gun which reduces the amount of noise and visible muzzle flash generated by firing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor

Only having seen the first episode. Not an expert either.

What I do understand is modern silencer/suppressors are much improved over old versions. They can actually improve accuracy and stability. If suppressors can be successfully integrated with a limited downside then they would always be useful. I would think most militaries would use them all the time and throughout if possible.

Besides accuracy and stability to the weapon, less sound/flash makes it difficult for an enemy to ID where fire is coming from. Less sound makes it easier to communicate in a firefight. May be able to help a unit ID where non-suppressed fire is coming from. Less noise also keeps the nerves calmer and may help soldiers reactions in a firefight. Saves your hearing too.

Special force types and snipers tend to use them more than anyone else. It's more important and feasible(cost) for such units. This unit appeared to be a special unit that included snipers. So the use would probably be pretty accurate here.
