Other then Cosby show and "Blackish" name ONE cast that is all black? Sorry but blacks don't get everything they want.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
The Game
Sister Sister
Family Matters
Hangin With Mr. Cooper
Living Single
Girlfriends
Diffrn't Strokes
Sanford and Son
My Wife and Kids

I'm pretty sure if African-Americans "got everything they want" (as you so eloquently put it), not getting shot walking out of their doors, not getting pulled over for "driving while black", not getting beat up by the cops on a regular basis, not being treated like second class citizens, not being exposed to disgusting acts of hatred and racism... (the list goes on and on) would be much higher on the list than black sitcoms. However, that doesn't mean diversity isn't welcome and needed in television today.

Yeah I'm just saying what's the harm ? It wouldn't hurt Disney , to have a couple more mostly black cast shows . They don't have anything to lose .

Someone quoted a tweet he made. Read it and THEN tell me that he is not a racist nutjob.READ his speech he gave. If you can't see that it's racist then you are blind.

That is a bunch of BULL----! And you know it. No they are NOT different. They may WANT to be but they put their pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us honey. You are a fool if you think you DESERVE anything. Grow up!

Black people do NOT get longer sentences then white people. Are you f'ing kidding me? Show me ONE time that has EVER happened. I dare you.

Prove that a black girl will be watched "more closely" in a store. Again I don't know where YOU live, but I have never ONCE seen that. That's laughable. Again a white person is more likely to get a job then a black person? You are SERIOUSLY kidding me? Um, just MAYBE you MORON, the WHITE person has MORE experience and has what they are looking for then the black person? Ever think of that? Of course not. You sit here and preach how we should all learn about race yet here you sit preaching how black people are treating differently and how WHITE people get all the privilege and you have not proven one ACTUAL example. Just opinion. Try again ass wipe.

Did you actually LISTEN to his speech? It was hateful. Please there are PLENTY of black people who have made it: Jessie WIlliams, shonda Rhimes, Oprah, Sydney Portier, Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, etc. I could go on but it would take all day. And there is no INVENTION called "whiteness"! For god sakes we are white. That is no invention. And seriously? "Yo"? He sounds like he is from the ghetto! It's ridiculous.

Blacks just like to whine and blame all their problems on others and I for one am sick of it.

So? That's supposed to prove what exactly? Nothing. Shonda also supported IW when he insulted TR Knight. But kH or PD d something she does not like? And they are out of the door so fast their heads spun around. Shonda is black, Jessie black. Of COURSE she is going to support him. And the rest of the cast all have said they are afraid of Shonda and her wrath so of COURSE they support him. They also attack cast mates when Shonda does. They don't want to get fired by daring to disagree with her.

No you BLACK fools "don't get it

I don't know what you're whining about. You have a WHOLE CHANNEL of mostly black shows. BET is designed to ONLY have mostly black people on it. They will only accept shows if it is mostly black. All other channels will accept any show if they believe it will do good in ratings, whether the cast is mostly black, white, Mexican, or Asian. Your kind is more lucky since you have a whole channel dedicated to ONLY hire black people; No channel out there hires ONLY whites or ONLY Asians, etc...

Some black people will never be satisfied until everyone on television is black. Anyway, blacks watch too much TV.

Very true. And that's the sad part.

Speaking of all-black casts, also from the 1970s:
Good Times
The Jeffersons

And currently on Disney Channel:
K.C. Undercover

By the logic of Bladebrown22's subject line, K.C.'s best friend, Marisa, is "one of those token characters so they can say they are Diverse" because she is the only white main character.

OK, in the Jeffersons main cast, their black neighbor was a married to a white man. I guess he was a token as well.

Yeah, I know filankey is not a word, but it's gonna catch on.

reply

I mean CURRENT shows you dip wad. Try again. Half of those shows no longer exist. But try again.

Because The Cosby Show is current?

Oh PLEASE they do NOT get shot "Just walking out of the door" They get SHOT for running from cops, pulling GUNS on cops and the like. But you refuse to see any of that because you think blacks are perfect. You make me sick.

I know plenty of black people and they are not treated the way you claim so STOP lumping "all blacks" into your little rant.

What's it like in your Utopia? It sounds a lot different than the world I live in.

Do these black people you know know you? Because based on your diatribes I get the feeling you're hiding under a white sheet when you see them. And setting up the burning crosses in their yards.

reply

Disney has KC Undercover which is about a black family, and Stuck in the Middle which is about a Mexican family. About 3 years back they had very little diversity but they're back on track.

reply

Ridiculous. This cast is more minority than it is white. For a show set in Maine, which is 95% white. But it's still not diverse enough for some people who just want to complain.

reply

It looks like you're nitpicking. Otherwise you would have not complained about Bunk'd being mostly white cuz your kind already has KC Undercover. And a couple of white characters surrounded by blacks, well, that's NOT diversity.

Makes up for elitist white bread world of Girl Meets World. Where as they act stuck up, Bunk'd is polar opposite w/ disgusting fart jokes and stereotypes: Mexicans are dirty. Asians are over-achievers. Blacks are sassy. Yeah, we get it.

Now this smartass jerk like a poorman's Tori on ill-fated last season Saved By The Bell. More stereotypes.

reply

Well, let's see: Emma, Xander and Lou, all white; Zuri, black; Ravi, Indian; Jorge, Hispanic; Tiffany, Asian. That looks like a minority white main cast to me. Um, unless one points out that there are three white kids and only one each of the other races/ethnicities. And there are all those extras in the background and the recurring Gladys and Hazel. And actually, India is part of Asia so Karan Brar (Ravi) is also of Asian descent.

I give up. No matter what the racial/ethnic makeup of a show people are going to complain about tokenism and lack of diversity. Good Luck Charlie had an all-white main cast of six with two recurring black best friend characters. Did Disney catch flak for that? I don't know, I didn't read the discussion threads when the show started in 2010. But people did complain loudly about Stuck In the Middle this year because the Hispanic family of nine looked too white to them, as if all Hispanics in the U.S.A. are supposed to look and sound like George Lopez and Rosie Perez. (Spain is a pretty white country, by the way).

What should Disney do? Base casting on the racial/ethnic makeup of the country according to the latest Census Bureau statistics? By 2042 or 2043 white folks in the U.S.A. are calculated to be a "majority minority" group. That is, still more white folks than the numbers for each other racial and ethnic group in the country, but overall the country will be a racial/ethnic plurality.

A lot of time these arguments about diversity and tokenism, while well intended, feel like losing propositions.

Yeah, I know filankey is not a word, but it's gonna catch on.
