Chip and Joanna are relationship goals.

They are who people should look up to be in a relationship. So sweet and loving to each other, but so silly and have a great sense of humor. I am married and me and him are not perfect or like chip and Joanna, but we try our hardest to keep the sense of humor and love.

I feel the same way! I'm going through a bad breakup too, so every time I watch this show, I say "maybe someday I'll find a guy who treats me like Chip treats Joanna." Oh, and always makes me laugh! Oh, and easy on the eyes! I love me some Chip and JoJo :)

reply

I agree. I love them. Chip is very funny and I love how she reacts to him. It's perfect really. I hope they are really like that off camera as well.

Yes, same here. I don't want to hear that he either beats her off camera, cheats, or is a total äss...

reply

I like that they are close, but Chip's antics are beginning to become as annoying as Jar Jar Binks

reply

I totally agree ! I stopped watching after the first show of this newest season! I got fed up with the man who seems to believe he's truly funny, not to mention a hunk ! Sorry, I don't see it ! Love must be blind and deaf.

reply

I absolutely agree with you. He makes this show pretty much unwatchable.

I could never stay with someone that says "shiplap" so many times.

reply

I actually find them annoying.

I agree lmao the

reply

*I watch this show for the houses, not for the cutesy relationship schtick. Gag.

reply

Yeah me too and the show focuses too much on them on their personal lives.

reply

I think they are more than a little creepy, so fakey-nice. Yuck.

reply

Well first of all I'm sure they're not "perfect" 24/7/365... no couple is lol so don't be so hard comparing yourself and your husband...
But they do certainly seem like a nice well-suited pair

They remind me of something a friend of mine, whose marriage I admired, told me about the recipe for its success. He said, "It's not that I'm committed to Martha [his wife] or that she's committed to me. It's that we are committed to our marriage." Almost all women are attracted to men who make us laugh, and who make us feel good about ourselves, so what's there for Joanna not to love about Chip? He shows her and the kids how much he treasures them every day. And she accepts him just for who he is and even eggs him on, so what's there for Chip not to love about Joanna? They don't seem to have tempers, it's hard to imagine them having a big fight. They are amazing, so are their children. They have a wealth that money can't buy.

I think it's telling that although Chip comes off as goofy, JoAnna said in an episode that "he can do anything" -- which shows not just how much she admires him but that - while he's a goof for the camera - he's smart and serious about what he does.

In other words, he's a kid at heart but not brainless and neither is she. And there are times, when we see her laugh and throw out a dry joke that we know she is probably as silly in private as him.

No wonder they get along well. 

In a few episodes, I've seen Joanna do some silly things. I think she's a lot like him, she's just a little more reserved about it. It's like, they are the same, but show it in different ways. I think she admires how he just puts himself out there, and she certainly doesn't stop him when he does something that would make most of us cringe. Finding someone who not only accepts you for who you are - warts and all - but loves you for it, that's beautiful. This thread is right, they are role models. Their children will grow up well-adjusted, knowing what a loving marriage looks like. It helps that they don't have the things to fight about that doom most marriages (like money problems).

reply

To me, they seem fake. Playing it up for the cameras.

reply

I think that Chip is playing it up much more for the cameras this season, but I don't mind because I find him hilarious.

They're as phony as $3 bills. They're also incredibly annoying and lack creativity. Always using one style and a limited color palette seems the antithesis of a good designer. The Gaines belong to a Christian cult that is extremely misogynistic. Neither speaks well; it's hard to believe they could survive in college.
