Metal signs

Does anyone here know where one can order a custom sign such as Joanna orders? "TODAY IS A GOOD DAY FOR A GOOD DAY" was one I, loved but I do have a personal saying in mind.

One must be careful about spreading statements or "assumptions" and absolutes as fact, such as "that's what everyone says". Not everyone says that their merchandise is made in China. One person making an erroneous statement is a drop in the bucket. "Everyone" saying something can have a serious effect.

No, I don't know Chip and Joanna, nor am I affiliated with the "Fixer Upper" show. I'm just curious as to how far off the mark my question about a custom sign, not one available in a catalog or on-line, has gone so far off the mark.

No, they are not made in China. They are made somewhere local to Joanna, but they never show the shop names on "Fixer Upper". As I wrote, I want to order my own saying, though I do like the signs Joanna has had made. I'd like one personal to my husband's and my life.

Who would be so stupid as to answer a question with an assumption? An assumption does not qualify as an informational answer.

I actually watch the show, "Fixer Upper". Joanna has actually walked into the metal worker's shops (2 of them) and talked to the artisans. She has ordered two signs, on separate shows. She didn't appear to be in Asia and she never announced that she had traveled to Asia for the sake of ordering the signs.

They make a big deal about using local artisans when they work on the homes on the show.

Someone somewhere on the board mentioned that the Gaines do sell items in their store and on-line which are made in China. I have no idea, nor did I confirm or deny this. I never stated I knew either way, I find it odd that anyone would question what I wrote. I merely asked if anyone knew where I might order a CUSTOM sign, not one of the sayings sold in Joanna's shop.

The Gaines have never, to my knowledge, stated that all items sold in the Magnolia Market are made in the USA. If you're disappointed, be disappointed. I seriously doubt it will affect their income at all.

Though I do appreciate having access to items made in the USA, I am also aware enough to recognize that free trade is beneficial to many countries in the world, not just the USA. It's curious to me that so many folks want to buy only what is made in the USA, without realizing that a great deal of our economy is based on our EXPORT trade. If not for other countries purchasing our goods, we would be in a woeful state.

Example, we export our cotton across the world. If not for that, what would become of our cotton producers? Is the USA the only country in need of fabric?

I made no assumptions about you. I don't know you. I am less interested in your education. I stated my OPINION to anyone who might care to read it. Your deliberate response appears to indicate you took personally my comments on a message board.

Your first sentence is grammatically incorrect and vague.

The fact still remains the USA benefits from export trade as well as import. It would be foolish to think we can survive financially without either.

Thank you, but as I wrote, I'm looking for my own custom sign.

So, "that sign is actually on here..." has nothing to do with my question. I appreciate your effort, but it's not the sign I had in mind, as I stated.

Though the possibility exists the signs sold in the store are made in China, I cannot confirm, deny or assume, the ORIGINAL sign shown on the show was apparently actually made in the USA.

Whoa whoa whoa! Hold on there. I wasn't addressing you, at all. I was addressing the poster who has now deleted all of her posts. It had nothing to do with you and I wish you hadn't thought so.

By the way, I am NOT an A-hole. You don't know me at all, and that was very uncalled for. Your mistake. Not mine, as I wrote, I wasn't even addressing you. I could not possibly be "blowing up" your e-mail as I have not sent one message, personal or otherwise, directly to you.

Let's try not to call names.

The literature for each metal sign reads "handmade in Waco". I just noticed it myself.

I recently saw that episode. I know they didn't show the shop name during the scene, but maybe it was listed in the closing credits.

P.S. I wish I knew what was in all of those deleted posts.

I found his site http://www.starsovertexas.com/ but it says he's no longer taking custom work.

Check around your local area. We have a guy who does amazing custom signs, even fences/gates. They are stunning!

DarlaKDavis: my daughter ordered a custom metal sign for our cabin through Amazon. Jane.com and Etsy also have local artists who do custom work. Good luck!
