Was It Rigged?

I really wonder if it was rigged for Ken Jennings to lose. Even before he answered a question I was thinking it. Then look what happens, he gets 1 answer right and is done.

reply

That's what I thought. It seemed convenient to start the show with a Celebrity only to see him fail miserably.

Yes I believe it was rigged. He can answer questions like those in his sleep.

reply

Either it was rigged or he didn't want to be there and failed as quickly as he could. I think it was likely he was paid some sort of appearance fee and then exited quickly because he didn't want to do it outside of the money.

reply

Why would they rig it for him to lose? Like.. that's absurd.

reply

Spectacle. Having a game show king lose in the first 10 minutes makes their game seem tough.

reply

and that would be more desirable than having big star and fan favorite Ken Jennings on your show for an extended run.. how?

reply

Ken winning isn't really anything new. And maybe he just didn't want to play this one long term so he was in on it. It's not like they pay that well. Compared to many game shows, you don't come out very well in this one.

reply

Ken Jennings loves game shows, I would find that very hard to believe.

This is a really weird conspiracy theory; it makes no sense for anyone involved.

Sure is, but game shows have been rigged before. The assumption that laws will never be broken is silly. Happens all the time.

reply

He's too smart to lose that fast. Oh well....

reply

Watching the show now, definitely fixed. Absolute phony trash, you can see through the contestants, that they're acting. I don't know if rigged is the right word, but it is definitely fixed/scripted to an extent, the outcome is for sure predetermined.

I think he threw it. He didn't like the way last year's winner was treated, so he agreed to be on just to throw the game. There's no way he doesn't know all the countries that border France. He sure doesn't need any more money. For what it's worth, I think he answered his last Jeopardy question wrong on purpose (the one where the correct answer was H & R Block) because he was just tired of being on.

I intend to live forever, or die trying.
