I don't know know where they get the information for the questions but, along with others the Peridot is a traditional birthstone for August. I was born in August so, I've been given a lot of them. I feel like the competitor would've been right.

This one bugged me too! I was sure the contestant answered correctly. I checked my Hallmark pocket calendar. It lists the birthstone and flower for each month.
Do you think they'll bring the contestant back and give him another chance? That is, if they produce more shows. Sometimes on Jeopardy they will bring back a player if the answer they gave turned out to be in dispute or correct.
