Filter

Does there have to be a filter or light on Mariah every single scene she in is? It's very distracting and takes away from the movie. And, it even looks like she's not really in some scenes. Why can't she just be herself? Maybe she should have been the music teacher or something closer to her age. She doesn't look hear Lacey's age to be classmates. Everyone else was great! The little girl was exceptional and Lacey always does a great job.

I was wondering that! The first scene she is in the camera is right in her face too.

Yes! I totally thought she wasn't even doing the scenes with the other main actors--just stand ins. It was really weird.

In many of the scenes Mariah was clearly filmed separately from the rest of the cast. They would show her alone and then the person she was supposedly talking to and then back to Mariah. Or they would show an arm but not her face.

reply

Yes,
totally! Most of her scenes were clearly shot separately, with that glowy lighting. It was so distracting

I worked on the film here in Cincinnati and I can confirm that Mariah was shot at the same time. Post production is what changed the look of her.

"I worked on the film here in Cincinnati and I can confirm that Mariah was shot at the same time" = Well then Mariah must've re-shot several scenes alone somewhere in private, to substitute in, because the finished result was EMBARSSINGLY bad, as far as realism goes. As another user pointed out, for example:

"In many of the scenes Mariah was clearly filmed separately from the rest of the cast. They would show her alone and then the person she was supposedly talking to and then back to Mariah. Or they would show an arm but not her face."

The only reason it would look like that is if there was a stand-in taking the place of Mariah, cuz she couldn't bother to be there in person (in her own movie, too yet!) Why on earth would the Hallmark Channel even allow such lazy deceptive movie-making, and the bizarre post-production filter that pretty much everyone's talking about (and not in good terms)? Do they have no quality control dept?

reply

Nope - no reshoots. All her stuff shot in Cincy. 100% for sure.

reply

Hey, you buried the headline! This movie was shot in the U.S.? Good for Hallmark, I just assumed it was done in Canada like all the rest of them.

reply

She def had some kind of filter or something. It was hard to get into the fact that she and Lacey Chabert supposedly went to school at the same time. Geez.

I'm so glad someone mentioned this. I was worried my TV was going out! ???

Mariah is a divine creature from some other dimension, so of course she would look different from regular people. She is a huge star, she glows with stardom and beauty.

reply

YASSS I need more and more people to understand this. Mariah is one of a kind.
