Was this a Folger's Commercial?

Every since I found out that AT&T U-verse brought back Hallmark I have been on a binge watching almost every corny romantic Hallmark Christmas movie that comes on. Why? Because my laptop broke and I have no life.

I am a huge Mimi fan but this movie was just...
There were many things I liked about the movie, the kid was really cute, Kathy Najimy love her, the overall cheesy story line.

Some bizarre instances that I noticed.

1. Folgers, I mean most of us can see from a distance that it is a Folgers container, why the need for the close up time and time again. That was hilarious.

2. The repetitive dialogue.

3. Her Victorian White house which is so beautiful. But, if she just lost her job and is moving how does she afford to heat up that place? Was it a family home?

4. Lastly, the ending song was "OH Santa", which was Mariah's Christmas song from 2010???

It was entertaining tho.

I also have been watching random Hallmark Xmas movies. LOL @ the Folgers product placement! Two Hallmark movies ago, there was also a Folgers placement that cracked me up. Movie was called On the Twelfth Day of Christmas (which was actually pretty decent btw). Last movie I saw before Melody was Family for Christmas which also starred Lacey Chabert. I'm quickly becoming a fan of hers!

I agree! She's really great in these movies. She was in another one a few years ago called Elevator Girl and one last year called A Royal Christmas. She was great in both. What I really liked about A Royal Christmas was that her character was supposed to be from Philly. I'm from Philly and they actually got a lot of the lingo right. So that was a nice little added bonus on top of a cure movie, haha.

Oh my gosh, yes! The way they zoomed in - so dumb.

reply

I could have handled the Folgers placement if they hadn't so obviously zoomed in to it. Overkill.

reply

I also thought that was very silly.

Wonder is the seed of knowledge.🐈 

They zoomed in and then just left the camera on it for about 30 seconds before moving on. I knew right away who their sponsor was, haha.

21 Hallmark Christmas movies this year, and the woman behind them all brags, "There are several significant product placements in our holiday originals, such as spots for Folgers and Tropicana Orange Juice."

I see Folgers in virtually every Hallmark Christmas movie.

yeah I agree with you on that a little overkill if you ask me good thing I'm lacey chabert fan

As stated on this blog for another subject line; she didn't lose her job, she ran a business, but then sold her store in LA. We are never told what event or events caused this to happen. For the second question, I would say, this must have been her family house, being that she grew up In that town and her aunt had the key to the door, since we see that the house is all prepared for the family's arrival from California.

At the very beginning, the "Going-Out-of-Business" sign says Lost Our Lease! as the reason for the shop closing its doors.

reply

They said she was going to a family house just waiting for her; and the product placement with Folgers is probably part of a cross promotion value added for running ad campaigns during the films or a straight dollar sponsorship. Annoying but obviously memorable since written about here, and that is the goal.

I know that some of these Hallmark movies are not the greatest, but I force myself to watch every single one because there are so many good ones that I don't want to miss.
I do not mind an obvious commercial because the company behind the commercial is obviously the big sponsor. That means less interruptions. So I purchase Folgers and shop at Walmart. I support them!
