There have been THREE versions of Bullseye before, so why make a third one?! The first one was called Bullseye which was produced by Jack Barry and Dan Enright with a set design from John C. Mula in 1979. Regular episodes did not air until September of 1980. This game lasted until December 1981. A few months before that is when The Joker's Wild built a new set design similar to the set of Bullseye.
In December 1981, the game show Bullseye was replaced by "Celebrity Bullseye. It lasted until September of 1982. (The Joker's Wild lasting until spring of 1986.)
There is also a dart-based U.K. version of Bullseye, and this game show had a mascot and somewhat resembled a pub. IIRC, I think this was a weekly game show but it lasted for a little over a decade.
So what is this reality show supposed to be?! Bullseye(s) Meet(s) Fear Factor?!
There are also three versions of The Joker's Wild. The Allen Ludden, Jack Barry, CBS, Syndicated, Million Dollar Contest, Jim Peck, Bill Cullen, etc.
A Kid's Version, "Joker! Joker!! Joker!!!" with prizes of scholarships and savings bonds.
And a version made in 1990-1991 that was completely different. This is disappointing because the revival of To Tell The Truth, and Match Game ... were both around this time and were very successful revivals (although all were canceled in one season).
I know I am too familiar with game shows, but the point is:
It looks like they tried to bring The Joker's Wild back, although I think it is a traditional game show. They still might bring it back again.
If there were Three "Bullseyes" already but they decided to bring it back "updated" for today's audiences, they will probably bring back "The Joker's Wild" "updated" for today's audiences even though there are already Three versions of The Joker's Wild already.
Now that I mention it, Bullseye is also a Pricing Game on The Price Is Right.
I can't help but be irritated that people can't use different titles. It is too the point that a title is now irrelevant. I guess it won't be long before every new TV Series will be literally named "TV Series".
