I really like this show ... but ? (seeking a reaction)

One thing I wonder is in TV shows like this one, they have to do
this thing where the main, or one of the main characters is a real
pain the neck. For instance on today's latest episode Alex is
hanging around and in just a matter of a few seconds he has
created a "disturbance in the force" with me, that is sort of real.

1. He has this history of abusing or bothering or treating badly
Leon, one of the few people who might be friends with such
a jackass (Alex). He calls his number and hangs up.
2. Then he has AirBNB boarders who come down to ask him what
to do to vacation in the area, and he jerks them around saying
the Hollywood sign is down twice a week for cleaning. A real
jerk thing to say ... which I am also assuming is untrue.
3. Then, he (Alex) is toasting and eating their bagels.
4. Then he is cutting and eating their tomato as well.

I am just wondering what you people out there that might possibly
read this might think about this, or do you think about it at all.
I honestly do not know what I do, mostly I just ignore it and move
on to see what the episode has to offer, but there is a kind of tension
that this behavior elicits that bothers me.

I suppose I want to like this guy because he is the main character
of the show, and he reminds me a bit of myself, but why do they have
to make him such a "tool". Could he be as funny or as interesting if
he was not so annoying.

For example, another show I really like a lot is "Catastrophe" and the
main character of that show Rob, the husband in this case, has his
moments, but mostly he is a really nice guy with a wicked sense of
humor. In the case of "Catastrophe" it is the wife, Sharon, that is
annoying.

There is another show a bit like these "You're The Worst" where it is
again the male lead Jimmy, and in this case Jimmy is even worse than
Alex in "Casual".

Someone tell me how if they have any reactions to some of these
characters, please!
